Bandwidth to Support Convergence
Convergence means combining or converging voice, data and video onto a single network. Enterprises usually need to expand their LAN bandwidth and set up a QoS or Quality of Service priority system to give priority to real-time streams such as telephone calls or video conference feeds, which are more sensitive to network delays than data transfers. Most often, the common protocol for convergence is IP.

How is PoE used for IP Phones?
PoE or Power over Ethernet is a standard that defines a way to transmit electric power to network devices as well as information packets. When PoE equipment is installed in equipment lockers, an IP telephone gets its power from the network and does not need a separate AC power supply.

What does flooding mean?
Flooding is a Ethernet process whereby switches that do not know the destination for data packets they receive send that data to all ports and wait for a reply to discover the actual address.

What is QoS and how do you get it?
QoS means Quality of Service. Most often you hear about QoS when referring to converged networks that transport both packet voice and data. QoS mechanisms may include prioritizing voice packets over data because voice is much more affected by latency and jitter.

What is the Cost Advantage of Carrier Ethernet
Where available, Ethernet transport services from competitive carriers may cost less than half the lease price of DS3 service for over twice the bandwidth. The difference in cost between SONET optical carrier service and Gigabit Ethernet WAN service is even more dramatic.

10 Gig E Enterprise Bandwidth Connectivity
Extremely high bandwidth Metropolitan and Wide Area Network connections up to 10 Gig E, 100 GigE, Gigabit Ethernet, and Fast Ethernet are now available from competitive carriers in metropolitan areas. Easily scaled fiber optic options from 10 Mbps up and cloud connections are also available, including Managed SDN Software Defined Networking and SD-WAN, as desired. Find out in seconds if your commercial business building or a nearby location is already lit for a high bandwidth Ethernet WAN connection up to 10 Gigabit Ethernet. Simply use this handy form...
